- Mining
- Clicking the block is "proof of work" — real miners search for a lucky number (a nonce) that makes their block's hash start with some pattern. Yours does that automatically once you finish clicking; the clicking is the work.
- The ledger
- Every block you mine or trade is stored on your Ledger tab, each one linked to the one before it by its hash. Change any old block and the chain after it stops matching — try the "Simulate tampering" button to see it get caught.
- Trading
- A trade is peer-to-peer: your browser talks directly to a classmate's browser over the classroom code, no server in the middle. Each of you only ever writes to your own chain.
- What's simplified
- A real blockchain is shared and agreed on by everyone (consensus); here each student keeps their own chain, which is enough to teach hashing, linking, and tamper-evidence without needing a live server.
